What we compared
Every tool here connects through Meta’s official login. Instead of comparing whole platforms, this page looks only at what happens after someone comments your keyword:
- Does it work on Instagram Reels and on Facebook Page posts?
- Can it post a public reply under the comment as well as the DM?
- Can it ask for an email before sending the link?
- Can it reach people who commented before the automation was on?
- What does it cost when a single post draws thousands of comments?

Komently
Best for: Instagram Reels and Facebook Page posts with email capture, at a flat price
Komently is built around the comment. A guided form sets the post (one post, all posts, or the next one you publish), the keyword, a public reply that rotates between variants, and the DM, in one screen. On Pro the DM can ask for an email first, with a typo check and a polite stop after a refusal, or ask the person to follow you on Instagram before the link arrives. Rewind reaches people who commented in the last seven days before the automation was on. The same automation types run on Facebook Pages, in Messenger. It is our product, so weigh this entry accordingly.

Best for: Long, branching flows across many channels
ManyChat’s comment triggers work on Instagram posts and Reels and on Facebook Page posts, with public replies on both and a visual builder for whatever comes after the first DM. Its data collection block validates the email format, retries a set number of times and can offer a Skip button. It bills per active contact: everyone who interacts with an automation in the month counts, commenters included.

Where it falls short: Per-contact billing climbs with every commenter, each Facebook Page or channel needs its own ManyChat account and subscription, and its docs say the Facebook trigger cannot answer comments made before it was set up.

Best for: The most DMs per dollar on both platforms
ReplyRush counts DMs sent and sells them in flat tiers, starting with the largest free allowance here. Paid tiers add comment auto-replies, an email collector that sends the link once the address arrives, follow-gated DMs and Sendback, which DMs people who commented before the post was linked.

Best for: Instagram-first creators sending links
LinkDM automates Instagram posts, Reels and Stories on its free plan, with comment auto-replies, lead forms and Rewind on Pro. Rewind covers Instagram and Facebook posts less than seven days old. Facebook post automation runs through its universal triggers, which need a unique keyword per automation.

Best for: Instagram-only creators on a small budget
CreatorFlow is Instagram-only and connects through Instagram Login without a Facebook Page. Pro adds public reply variations, an email gate that sends the link once the email arrives, a follow gate and Rewind with a seven-day lookback. Its own help center says the follow gate is an honor system that cannot verify the follow.

Meta Business Suite
Best for: A basic keyword reply at no cost
Meta’s own inbox includes a Comment to message automation that sends a message reply to comments containing chosen keywords, set up on the desktop version of Business Suite. It is free and needs no third-party app. Meta’s help pages do not say whether it covers Instagram as well as Facebook, and it has no email step, follow check or reply for earlier commenters.

Where it falls short: Desktop-only setup, keyword matching only, and nothing between the comment and the reply.
What a 5,000-comment Reel costs
Viral posts are where billing models separate. Say one Reel draws 5,000 people commenting your keyword in a month. Each gets one DM without an email step, or about two with one (the ask, then the link). The cheapest plan that covers it, at monthly billing:

Komently is not the cheapest line in that table. What $29 buys is a price that does not move: unlimited DMs, the email step, Rewind and both platforms, whether the Reel draws 500 comments or 50,000.
Every tool on the official API also paces its sends, so a large burst is delivered over hours rather than seconds, and Meta’s seven-day window for private replies still applies. The account safety guide explains why pacing protects the account.
How to choose
Four questions settle most decisions:
- Do you post on a Facebook Page? If yes, drop the Instagram-only tools. Check that Facebook runs the same automation types, not a reduced set.
- Does the DM need an email first? Then test what happens with a typo, a refusal and a late reply, not only the happy path.
- How does it bill a viral month? Per contact counts every commenter, per DM counts every message, flat counts neither. Price your best month of the last year.
- Do you need what comes after the first DM? Long branching flows across WhatsApp or SMS point to ManyChat. A comment, a DM and a link point to a focused tool.
