How a comment becomes a commission
The whole mechanic is one loop, and it runs the same whether four people comment or four thousand. You post, you ask for a keyword in the caption, and everyone who types it gets the link in their inbox while they are still watching.
- Post with a keyword CTA
- Someone comments it
- DM with your link
- Click and commission
Two things make this better than a link in bio. The person asked, so the message is expected rather than intercepted. And the link arrives in a private thread they can scroll back to next week, instead of behind two taps and a landing page.
A product review Reel
- Post says
- “The blender I use every morning. Comment SHOP and I will send you the exact one.”
- They comment
- SHOP
- Komently sends
- Here it is 👉 your storefront link. Paid link, I earn a commission if you buy.
Where the links come from
Nothing here is specific to one network. The automation sends whatever URL you paste, so the same setup works across every programme you are in:
- Amazon Associates and the Amazon Influencer storefront. Product links, idea lists, or the storefront itself.
- LTK, ShopMy and Mavely. Collage links and single product links, sent on the post that featured the item.
- Networks such as ClickBank, Digistore24, Impact, ShareASale, Awin and CJ. Long tracking URLs are fine; nothing is rewritten.
- Brand partnerships. A discount code and a tracked URL in the same message, so the code never gets lost in the comments.
- Your own products. A Gumroad, Stan Store or Payhip checkout link works exactly like an affiliate one.
Komently sends the URL exactly as you typed it. There is no shortening or redirect step anywhere in the send path, which matters because several networks treat cloaked links as a breach.
What a good month costs you
This is where affiliate accounts differ from everyone else: a single Reel that performs can put thousands of people into a DM flow in two days. Tools priced per contact charge for every one of them, whether they buy or not.

| People who comment on one post | Cheapest ManyChat option | ManyChat, monthly billing | Komently |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300 | Essential plus 50 extra contacts | $22 | Free plan, $0 |
| 3,000 | Pro plus 500 extra contacts | $64 | Pro, $29 |
| 9,000 | Business plus 1,500 extra contacts | $136.50 | Pro, $29 |
ManyChat counts a unique person as an active contact the moment one of your automations touches them, and the count resets every month. Komently counts DMs sent, and Pro has no monthly limit, so the 3,000 and 9,000 rows cost the same as a quiet month. Verify both sets of prices before you commit; they move.
Put it next to what you earn. If a $40 order pays you 5 percent, that is $2, so the 9,000-comment month on per-contact pricing costs about 68 sales before you are level. That is the arithmetic that sends affiliate accounts looking for a flat price.
The rules that keep your account and your programme
Two separate rulebooks apply here, and people usually only read one of them.
What Amazon actually says
You may include Special Links in emails, SMS and direct messaging from your social media Sites; provided, that such communications are solicited (i.e., opted into by the receiving customer) and are otherwise in compliance with the Agreement, the Trademark Guidelines, and the Amazon Brand Usage Guidelines.
That is the Associates Program Participation Requirements, in force as of 14 April 2026. Read plainly: unsolicited link drops are still out, and a person who types your keyword to ask for the link has opted in. Check your own programme's terms too, since the networks do not agree with each other.
What Meta allows
- Only message people who acted first. A comment, a Story reply, an incoming DM. Never a list of usernames you bought.
- One private reply per comment. That is Meta's rule, not a tool setting, and the window for a comment on a post or Reel is seven days.
- Follow-ups live inside 24 hours. Once someone messages you, that thread stays open for a day; after that, you cannot restart it.
- Connect through Meta's own login. If a dashboard asks for your Instagram password instead, walk away.
Disclose inside the message
A disclosure in the caption does not travel with the link. Put it in the DM itself, in the same message as the URL, in plain words: paid link, commission, gifted, whichever is true. The FTC in the United States and the ASA in the United Kingdom both look at the message the person actually reads.
Setting it up in a few minutes
Nothing here needs a flow chart. One keyword, one message, one post scope.
- 1
Connect the account
Instagram professional account or Facebook Page, through Meta's login. No password is ever handed over. - 2
Pick a keyword people will actually type
SHOP, LINK, DEAL, or the product name. Short, one word, and the same word you say in the caption. Keywords match anywhere in the comment, so "shop please" still counts. - 3
Write the DM with the link and the disclosure
Paste the affiliate URL as it came from the network. Add the disclosure line in the same message. On Pro the link can be a tappable button instead of plain text. - 4
Post, and put the CTA where people look
In the caption and in your own first comment. Apply the automation to that post, or to every post if you use the same keyword each time.
Test it on your own account before the post goes out. Comment the keyword yourself and watch the DM arrive.
What this does not do
So you can rule it out quickly if it is the wrong shape:
- No auto-DM when someone follows you. Meta's API does not expose that, and tools that claim it are not using the official API.
- Instagram and Facebook only. No WhatsApp, Telegram, TikTok, SMS or email channels.
- Story replies work; Story mentions do not, because Meta does not deliver them to apps.
- No visual flow canvas. Keyword, message, scope, and that is the model.
- Tappable buttons, email capture, AI replies and the 7-Day Rewind are Pro features; the Free plan sends plain-text links.
