One loop, whichever platform pays you
None of these platforms cares how the link travels. They give you a URL, they track what happens after the click, and that is the whole contract. So the job is getting the URL in front of the person who asked, quickly, while they are still looking at the post.
- Post with a keyword CTA
- Someone comments it
- DM with the link
- Click and commission
This is why creators moved off link in bio for product posts. A bio link is one destination for a feed full of different outfits; a DM is the exact thing that person asked about, delivered while they still want it.
An outfit Reel
- Post says
- “Everything in this fit is under $60. Comment LINK and I will send the collage.”
- They comment
- LINK
- Komently sends
- Here is the collage 👉 your link. Commissionable links, thanks for using them 🤍
What you paste, per platform
The automation sends whatever you give it, so the only per-platform question is which URL you copy and what the DM should say next to it:
LTK
- What you copy
- A collage link, a single product link or your creator shop
- What the DM should say
- Which outfit it is, since a collage holds several pieces
ShopMy
- What you copy
- A product link or a collection link
- What the DM should say
- The item, and any code if the brand gave you one
Mavely
- What you copy
- A product or brand link
- What the DM should say
- The item, and when a deal price ends
A brand's own programme
- What you copy
- The tracked URL they issued you
- What the DM should say
- The code, because those links usually come with one
| Platform | What you copy | What the DM should say |
|---|---|---|
| LTK | A collage link, a single product link or your creator shop | Which outfit it is, since a collage holds several pieces |
| ShopMy | A product link or a collection link | The item, and any code if the brand gave you one |
| Mavely | A product or brand link | The item, and when a deal price ends |
| A brand's own programme | The tracked URL they issued you | The code, because those links usually come with one |
You can mix platforms freely: a keyword per post, pointed at whatever link pays for that post. Komently sends the URL exactly as you pasted it, with no shortening or redirect step, so nothing gets rewritten on the way out.
What is documented, and what you have to check yourself
Be careful with advice on this topic. Most of what is written about LTK, ShopMy and Mavely allowing links in DMs traces back to blogs published by the tools selling the automation, not to the platforms' own terms.
Amazon is the one that spells it out in writing. Its Associates Program Participation Requirements permit Special Links in direct messaging from your social media sites when the communication is solicited, meaning the recipient opted in. See the Amazon guide for the exact wording.
For LTK, ShopMy, Mavely and any brand-direct programme, your agreement with them governs, and those terms change. Read yours before you automate, and re-read it when a platform rebrands or is acquired. We are not going to tell you a rule we cannot show you.
Meta's rules apply to all of them
- Only people who acted first. A comment, a Story reply, an incoming DM. Never a list of usernames.
- One private reply per comment, and seven days to send it on a post or Reel.
- Follow-ups within 24 hours of their last message, which is Meta's window and not a plan limit.
- Meta's official login only. Any tool asking for your Instagram password is risking the account you built.
Disclose inside the DM, not only in the caption. The caption does not travel into the inbox, and the message is what the person actually reads.
Why this matters more the more you post
Creator-commerce accounts post daily, sometimes several times a day, and each post can draw its own wave of keyword comments. That is a good problem until you are paying per person who asks.
Komently meters DMs sent rather than people reached, and Pro has no monthly DM limit at $29 a month ($19 billed yearly). The Free plan covers 1,000 DMs a month, which suits a few posts a week rather than a daily cadence.
One automation can also cover every future post: set the keyword once, apply it to all posts, and each new outfit Reel inherits it without you touching the dashboard.
Setting it up once
Two minutes per keyword, and it keeps running.
- 1
Connect the Instagram professional account
Through Meta's login. Creator or Business, both work. - 2
Choose the keyword
LINK, SHOP, OUTFIT or the item name. One word, the same one you say in the caption. Matching is not case sensitive and the word can sit anywhere in the comment. - 3
Paste the link and write the line around it
Copy the URL from LTK, ShopMy or Mavely as it is. Add which item it is and your disclosure. On Pro the link becomes a tappable button. - 4
Decide the scope
This post only, or every post you publish from now on. Creators posting daily usually want the second.
Comment your own keyword on the post before you promote it, and watch the DM arrive.
What it does not do
Straight answers, so you can decide quickly:
- It does not DM people for following you or liking a post. Meta's API does not offer that.
- It does not report your commissions. LTK, ShopMy and Mavely each do their own tracking and payouts.
- It cannot reach comments older than seven days on a post or Reel.
- Story replies work; Story mentions are not delivered to apps by Meta.
- Instagram and Facebook only, so a TikTok audience needs something else.
