The loop, start to finish
You are already telling people the link is in your bio. This replaces that sentence with one that converts better, because the thing they asked for arrives where they are instead of two taps away.
- Post with a keyword CTA
- Someone comments it
- DM with the link
- Storefront visit
The public comment is worth something on its own: it is engagement on the post, which is what decides whether the Reel keeps being shown. So the ask that gets you the DM also feeds the reach that fills it.
A product review Reel
- Post says
- “Three kitchen finds I actually kept. Comment SHOP and I will send my storefront.”
- They comment
- SHOP
- Komently sends
- Here is my storefront 👉 amazon.com/shop/yourhandle. Paid link, I earn a commission.
Which link belongs behind which keyword
One automation, one keyword, one destination. Mixing them is what makes people give up on the DM, so give each kind of post its own word:
A single product review
- Keyword
- SHOP
- What the DM sends
- The product link from SiteStripe
A haul or a multi-item Reel
- Keyword
- LIST
- What the DM sends
- The idea list holding all of them
A storefront tour or a seasonal edit
- Keyword
- STORE
- What the DM sends
- Your storefront page
A shoppable video you filmed
- Keyword
- VIDEO
- What the DM sends
- The video's own link on Amazon
A deal that expires
- Keyword
- DEAL
- What the DM sends
- The product link, plus when the price ends
| The post | Keyword | What the DM sends |
|---|---|---|
| A single product review | SHOP | The product link from SiteStripe |
| A haul or a multi-item Reel | LIST | The idea list holding all of them |
| A storefront tour or a seasonal edit | STORE | Your storefront page |
| A shoppable video you filmed | VIDEO | The video's own link on Amazon |
| A deal that expires | DEAL | The product link, plus when the price ends |
Amazon's own shortener, amzn.to from SiteStripe, is fine to send. It is Amazon's link, not a third-party redirect, so it is not the kind of cloaking affiliate networks object to. Komently sends whatever URL you paste, unchanged.
What Amazon allows in a DM
This is the part worth reading twice, because the advice everywhere else is out of date.
You may include Special Links in emails, SMS and direct messaging from your social media Sites; provided, that such communications are solicited (i.e., opted into by the receiving customer) and are otherwise in compliance with the Agreement, the Trademark Guidelines, and the Amazon Brand Usage Guidelines.
That is the Associates Program Participation Requirements, in force as of 14 April 2026. Two things follow. Someone who comments your keyword asked for the link, so the DM is solicited. And sending links to people who did not ask is still out, which rules out the tools that promise to DM everyone who follows you.
- Say it is a paid link, inside the DM. A disclosure in the caption does not travel into the inbox.
- Keep Amazon's names as Amazon writes them. The Trademark and Brand Usage Guidelines still apply to what you put in the message.
- One private reply per comment. Meta's rule, and the window on a post or Reel is seven days.
- Never a tool that wants your Instagram password. Official Meta login only, or the account is the thing you are risking.
Programmes disagree with each other, so if you are also in LTK, ShopMy or a brand's own affiliate network, read theirs before you reuse the same automation.
Why this gets expensive on the wrong plan
Amazon creators post daily and a single Reel can draw thousands of keyword comments. Tools that bill per contact charge for every person who asks, whether or not they buy, and the count resets every month.
At $29 a month ($19 billed yearly) Komently does not meter DMs on Pro, so a Reel that lands costs the same as one that does not. The Free plan covers 1,000 DMs a month, which is a few posts a week rather than a daily cadence.
The comparison, the per-contact overage rates and the worked examples are on the ManyChat pricing page if you want the arithmetic.
Setting it up before your next post
Three minutes, and it runs on every post after it if you keep the keyword the same.
- 1
Connect the Instagram professional account
Through Meta's login. A Creator or Business account, which you already have if you are in the Influencer Program. - 2
Grab the link from SiteStripe
Product link, idea list or storefront, whichever the post is about. Copy it as Amazon gives it to you. - 3
Write the DM once
The link, one line saying it is a paid link, and nothing else. Short messages get read. On Pro the link can be a tappable button. - 4
Say the keyword out loud in the Reel
In the caption, in your own first comment, and on screen. The comment volume is what feeds the DMs, and saying it beats writing it.
Test it on your own account first: comment the keyword yourself and watch the DM land.
What it will not do
Worth knowing before you set it up:
- It cannot DM people who only followed you or only liked the post. Meta does not expose that, whatever a tool claims.
- It cannot reach comments older than seven days on a post or Reel. That is Meta's window, not a plan limit.
- It does not track your Amazon commissions. Amazon reports those; this only delivers the link.
- Story replies work, Story mentions do not, because Meta does not deliver mentions to apps.
- Instagram and Facebook only. No TikTok, no WhatsApp, no SMS.
