Scans your post's comments
Rewind reads the most recent comments on each post linked to the automation (up to 500 per post) and finds the ones matching your trigger keywords. - 2
Filters out what shouldn't get a DM
Comments older than 7 days, people you've already DM'd, and duplicate comments from the same person are skipped automatically — nobody gets messaged twice. - 3
Sends DMs in safe batches
Eligible commenters get the same first message as a live comment — your branded card with the “Send me the access” button; the content (and any follow or email step) follows when they tap it — oldest comments first (they're the ones about to expire), with human-like delays between each send.
You always see a preview first — total comments, keyword matches, and exactly how many DMs will be sent — before anything goes out.
Meta's rules (the hard limits)
Two limits come from Instagram and Facebook themselves — no tool can bypass them:
- 7-day window: Meta only allows a private reply to a comment made in the last 7 days. Older comments can never receive a DM.
- One private reply per comment: each comment can receive exactly one private reply, ever — whether it came from Komently, another tool, or a human in the inbox.
The window is rolling
A comment made 6 days ago expires from the window tomorrow. If a big post is sitting on unanswered keyword comments, run Rewind sooner rather than later — Rewind sends oldest-first for exactly this reason.Safety pacing & daily batches
Meta actively restricts accounts that blast automated DMs, so Rewind is deliberately paced to keep your account safe:
- It scans the newest ~500 comments per post per run.
- It sends up to 50 DMs per run and 100 Rewind DMs per day per account, in small batches with human-like delays.
- Rewind shares your account's overall hourly and daily send limits with your live automations, so a Rewind can never starve or endanger your real-time replies.
The exact numbers applied to your run are always shown in the Rewind preview dialog. If a run reaches a daily limit, simply run Rewind again the next day — everyone already messaged is skipped, and it continues where it left off.
Large or viral posts
Got a post with thousands of comments and hundreds of keyword matches? The standard daily batches may not get through everyone before the 7-day window closes on the oldest comments. Contact support — we can run a supervised deep recovery for you: a full scan of the post and raised daily batches, still paced safely under Meta's limits, prioritising the comments closest to expiry. Very large posts are processed across 2-3 days.
Common questions
Why did some DMs fail? The most common reasons are out of anyone's control: the commenter's privacy settings block message requests, they blocked the account, or the comment was deleted. These are counted as "failed" in your results and never retried against Meta's rules.
Will people get duplicate DMs if I run Rewind twice? No — Rewind checks your message history first and skips anyone already DM'd, and Meta itself only allows one private reply per comment.
Why at least 2 message variations? Sending the identical text to dozens of people in a row looks like spam to Meta's classifiers. Rewind requires at least two DM variations and rotates them to keep your account safe.
