Automate a scheduled or upcoming post

Use the Next post option so an automation attaches itself the moment your scheduled post goes live.

You scheduled a post in Meta Business Suite (or Buffer, Later…) and want a comment automation ready on it before it goes live. The Next post option is built exactly for this: save the automation now, and it attaches itself to the first post you publish afterwards.

Why scheduled posts don't show up in the post picker

Instagram and Facebook don't let apps see scheduled posts — Meta provides no API for it (this is why other tools can't show them either). A scheduled post only becomes visible to Komently once it's actually published. Next post bridges that gap: instead of picking a post that doesn't exist yet, you tell the automation to grab the next one.

Use Next post

  1. 1

    Create your automation as usual

Set up the keyword and the reply/DM exactly like any other comment automation.
  2. 2

Choose “Next post” as the post selection

Instead of picking specific posts or all posts, choose Next post. The automation shows as Waiting for your next post.
  3. 3

Publish (or let your scheduler publish)

When the scheduled post goes live and someone comments your keyword, the automation locks onto that post and fires — from then on it behaves like it was attached to that specific post all along.

How it behaves

  • “Next” means published after you saved. Comments on older posts never trigger it or claim it.
  • It attaches once. The first new post that receives a matching keyword comment becomes the automation's post. Later posts aren't affected.
  • One waiting automation per account. To cover several scheduled posts, wait until the current one attaches, then create the next automation (or use different keywords with specific posts once they're live).
  • Re-arming: editing the automation and choosing Next post again releases the attached post and waits for a new one.

Posting several scheduled posts with the same keyword?

Consider All posts instead — one automation covers every post, past and future, with no re-arming.
