Fix account connection problems
The connect window closed, got stuck or showed an error? These steps fix almost every case.
Connecting opens a secure Instagram or Facebook window where you log in and approve Komently. When that window closes by itself, gets stuck loading, or loops back to the login screen, the cause is almost always the browser: a blocked pop-up, a cookie banner that was never accepted, or an extension. Nothing on your account changes when a connection fails, so it is always safe to try again.
The fix that works
Do these steps in order. They solve the problem for nearly everyone who writes to support.
- 1
Allow pop-ups for Komently
Look for the blocked pop-up icon at the right end of the address bar and choose Always allow. On a phone, turn off Block pop-ups in your browser settings. - 2
Open a private (incognito) window
Chrome or Edge: Ctrl+Shift+N (⌘+Shift+N on a Mac). Safari: File → New Private Window. Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+P. A private window starts without the extensions and old cookies that usually get in the way. - 3
Log in to Instagram or Facebook there first
In the private window, open instagram.com (or facebook.com for a Page) in a new tab, log in, and accept the cookie banner if one appears. A cookie banner that was never accepted is the most common reason the connect window closes or loops. - 4
Connect from Komently in the same window
Still in the private window, open Komently, log in, and click Connect again. Approve every permission Instagram or Facebook asks for.
Keep the Komently tab open
While you log in, Komently waits for the result and picks it up automatically, even if the window closes on its own. You don't need to refresh. On a phone
- Opened Komently from Instagram or Facebook? Their built-in browser often blocks the login. Tap ⋯ at the top right and choose Open in browser, or copy the link into Safari or Chrome.
- Turn off pop-up blocking for the browser (iPhone: Settings → Safari → Block Pop-ups).
- If it still fails, try the same steps on a computer: you only need to connect once.
Facebook says there are no Pages
- 1
Make sure you have a Facebook Page
A personal profile isn't enough. Create a Page at facebook.com/pages/create if you don't have one yet. - 2
Use the right Facebook account
Open facebook.com in another tab and check who is logged in. The Page must belong to that account. - 3
Tick your Page when Facebook asks
If Facebook didn't ask this time, it reused your last answer. Choose Edit previous settings on its first screen and select the Page. - 4
Check your role on the Page
You need full control (admin) of the Page. If someone else owns it, ask them to add you.
